  • Can a Life Coach help you in the workplace?

I am assuming most of you have heard the term Life Coach. In fact, some of you might be Life Coaches or have worked with one or more. Others may have a general idea and some of you may have no idea what a Life Coach is or does. With an operating definition of how Life Coaches operate you’ll be more likely to choose a Life Coach who can help you address your issues. So, what is and what does a Life Coach do?

A Life Coach is a trained professional who uses a highly tuned and powerful communication and problem-solving process. The relationship between a Coach and Client is co-creative and focused entirely on the Client’s interests, challenges, and goals. There is a difference between Coaches, Consultants, and Therapists. Coaches are forward-looking. They help their clients explore possibilities and guide them to creatively resolve their issues. Consultants advise Clients on how to solve their problems. Therapists work with clients who need or want professional help to work toward healing, recovery, and issue resolution. I happen to be a Coach, but I encourage people to choose a professional whose services best meet their needs.

I chose to become a Coach at the urging of a former subordinate. She told me that my management style was like coaching. I assume it is because I had always been a servant leader. Over my 35-year career as a university administrator, I learned how to create win-win work environments. I was able to work through toxic office situations and now, I want to help others do the same.

I was able to hone my natural ability through the Coach Training Alliance (CTA) certification program. I became a certified Life Coach in December 2017 and established ProDestiny Coaching in 2018. While I have the necessary training to coach in a variety of areas, my primary focus is work relationships. Toxic office politics is on the rise. I desire to help leaders resolve toxic work relationships so they can get more done in less time and with less resistance. If you are tired of being stuck in a stagnate or downward spiral, call a Coach. If you are not sure if you are in a toxic work situation, go to my website, ProDestinyCoaching.com, and take the Work Relationship Quiz. Then call me for a complimentary consultation. This is your call to action. Change your thoughts and change your destiny.
